This writer is agnostic, and has never had a problem with AA. It seemed foolish to him to allow the fact that some people's concept of a higher power was different from his to keep him from enjoying the effects of a program that was obviously of help to so many people. I simply reminded myself that the higher power or God as I understood him was, for me, the acknowledgment of the fact that I had been unable to stay sober on my own and needed help. For me, the Higher Power was the AA group, and G.O.D. was "good, orderly direction."
