What are some alternative medicine treatments for the A H1N1 09 flu?

What to EatApart from popping pills and exercising, it is equally important to eat right.Fresh fruits and vegetables: They provide the body with an ample stock of vitamins and minerals. They also contain natural antioxidants and antibodies that strengthen immune system. Eat beans, dark-colored fruits and vegetables like beetroot, spinach and broccoli.Fish: Fish are a veritable gold mine of proteins. These allow your body to repair quickly from damages caused by viral attacks.Citrus fruits: They are high on Vitamin C and E, which boost the immune system and stimulate the production of antibodies.Bitter vegetables: They are important for the liver as they help to detoxify the body and boost the metabolism. Bitter gourd is a good option.Alternative TherapiesBesides Tamiflu, these alternative remedies to prevent and treat the H1N1 influenza may be a good option for patients:HomeopathyHomeopathic medicines were successful in treating the flu pandemic in 1918. Homeopathy may be a better option also because it has hardly any side-effects, say experts.Gelsemium and Bryonia: Effective during 1918's outbreak. Homeopaths feel these could be useful in the current epidemic too.Influenzinum: In a survey conducted by the French Society of Homeopathy in 1998, in 90 per cent of the 317 influenza patients surveyed, no instances of the flu occurred when influenzinum was used as a preventive measure.Oscillococcinum: A homeopathic preparation of the liver and heart of a Barbary duck. In 1990, German experts found flu patients showed a noticeable improvement after about 48 hours of treatment with Oscillococcinum.YogaBesides medicines, yoga may also prove to be a good option if one is trying to counter the H1N1 influenza.Bhastrika Pranayam: Sit with legs stretched out, back straight. Bend one leg, place ankle on opposite thigh close to groin. Do the same to the other leg. Place your hands on knees. Take a deep breath, hold it and exhale. Repeat this 5-10 times till your breathing becomes even.Kapal Bhati Pranayam: It's similar to the Bhastrika Pranayam, except the way you breathe. Exhale by pushing the stomach inside. Inhale with minimal effort. Repeat the process for about 15 minutes.Ayurveda:Like homeopathy, Ayurvedic medicines also show promise in treating swine flu without causing any side-effects.Guduchi: Also known as Tinospora Cordifolia, this is a known flu preventive. It is an anti-viral which kills the H1N1 virus. Guduchi is commonly available and contains a substance called Giloine which is effective for strengthening the respiratory system.Vasa: Also known as Adhatoda vasica, this medicine is also effective. It reduces obstruction or inflammation in airways and increases lung capacity. Besides, basil, turmeric and amla are extensively used to build immunity and are recommended along with the medication.

What are the similarities between the Black Death and the Spanish Flu?

There really is not much of a similarity between the two besides the fact that the both caused a worldwide pandemic. The black death was caused by the bacteria Yersinia pestis, while the Spanish influenza was caused by a highly virulent strain of influenza virus (H1N1). The most common form of the black death (bubonic plague) is believed to have spread by bites from infected fleas carrying the bacteria. Pneumonic plague, which was less common by more virulent was spread through the respiratory tract. Similarly influenza is also an airborne disease, however, other than that they are completely different pathogens that occured in completely different time periods.

Why can't the Warriors movie be playing now?

Erin (Vicky, Kate, Cherith, and Tui) have not officialy decided if there is to be a movie. Right now, a few studios have made offers but as far as I know Erin has not accepted. It's me, Speckletalon! They all think, with the economy and H1N1 (swine flu) everyone needs a happy movie. ~ I don't think there will be a movie. Warriors are fairly violent, and Erin Hunter doesn't go into detail so you inturprit what it looks like a lot when the cats are fighting. When you do a movie, you HAVE to see it so the movie would be either rated R or nothing like warriors. Sometimes, you don't mess with good things in life.

Will New Zealand be affected by Swine Flu?

UPDATE 1/06/10Yes, New Zealand has had the same effects now as most countries during the current pandemic in the fall and winter flu season in the Northern Hemisphere in 2009 - 2010. As of today the case numbers and deaths in New Zealand are reported to be a cumulative total of 3198 cases and 22 deaths.7th July 2009:Swine Flu in NZ is now of epidemic proportions. It is community spread and spreading rapidly. Fortunately, it is 'mild' in intensity for most people. To date, there have been 3 deaths that can be related to Swine Flu - as far as is known none of these 3 cases had underlying complicating health issues. It is estimated that 1/3 of the population will have had this flu before the end of our winter flu season this year.I have just recovered from this flu. My husband now has it. His symptoms are much milder than mine were. I was sick for 2 weeks and now into my 3rd week and only just beginning to feel that I could carry on all normal daily tasks, including exercise. What characterised my flu most was the extreme fatigue and body aches / head aches and the swings between sweats and chills. The cough only began at the end of Week One and I still have it. However, it is no longer keeping me awake at night and I have now had 2 nights in a row where I have slept through the entire night without waking up to coughing. My chest hurts when I cough or sneeze but is not causing me too much pain. Here in NZ, people are not getting tested for confirmation of Swine Flu as there are too many cases and it would be economic suicide for the country to do so. Only those with the most severe symptoms are being tested. Most are also NOT receiving any antiviral drugs to help ease the symptoms as the stockpile has been depleted too quickly too early on.Most people here are now complacent and blase about this flu. Many people are not aware how it might affect them and are going about their normal daily lives without thought or care ... save for some using hand sanitiserAccording to the World Health Organization (WHO), as of July 6, 2009 New Zealand has reported 1059 confirmed cases of Novel H1N1 with 3 deaths. This is an increase of 147 cases since the July 3 report of 912 cases and no deaths. Also listed in the July 6, 2009 WHO report were these other Southern Hemisphere countries and the numbers of illnesses that are spreading during their flu season:7/6/09 Cumulative Case Count------------Amount of change since last report 7/3Argentina - 2485 and 60-----------------------------up by 898 cases and 34 deathsAustralia - 5298 and 10------------------------------up by 730 and 1Bolivia - 416 and 0-----------------------------------up by 133 and 0Brazil - 737 and 1------------------------------------no increaseChile -7376 and 14-----------------------------------up by 0 and 0Columbia - 118 and 2--------------------------------up by 17 and 0Ecuador - 204 and 0---------------------------------up by 41 and 0Indonesia - 20 and 0---------------------------------up by 12 and 0Paraguay - 106 and 1--------------------------------up by 3 and 1Peru - 916 and 0-------------------------------------up by 378 and 0Uruguay - 195 and 4---------------------------------up by 0 and 3See the related questions section below for more information.

That information is no longer being kept or made available. The counts of cases of H1N1/09 is no longer done.
