Yes,it is.Its been around for a long time, and people have enjoyed it.Elvis Presley made it very populer, when he was around. Remember, rock n' roll is NOT fall out boy or green day or some of those other posers. True rock n' roll is sadly not as popular now as it used to be, but a large amount of people still listen to it. AC/DC, The Beatles, and the Who is what real rock n roll is
Before Rock and Roll music hit the streets. There was Jazz. Jazz held the eye of many because of the instruments, sound, performance, rhythmn and rhyme. It was different and many of the young innovative minds caught the sight of it. Then the electric guitar was invented. It introduced a whole new sound and the young teenagers of that time were attracted to it. Plus generally teens tend to rebell, Rock and Roll music was a way for them to express their feelings, like today with popular music. The technology back then lets not forget, it was limited. There was only so much before electric or heavy metalcore sounds hit the records. It was the coolest because it was the newest at the time and it became a trend. That is why it was popular.
in short yes.
rock n roll could be considered the first music to be viewed by a mass public, as television was becoming a public staple at the time, this led to performers ,now in their prime, watching said music artist as a child and being influenced. almost all modern pop music has some rock n roll influence.
the stars of rock n roll, case example in point Chuck Berry, also pioneered the bad ass side of music. at this time the term sex and drugs and rock n roll came to fruition, this extreme form of music also spoke to a whole generation of rebels. this has led to the metal and heavy metal genres adopting a similar form of showman ship, for example rock band The Who where the first people to smash instruments on stage, an act that is almost common in modern metal.
in terms of actual music rock n roll was the first form of music to use fast tempos, electric Guitars, power chords and screaming vocals.
rock n roll is the best genre of music by far.
There are at least many hundreds of millions of people worldwide who like rock and roll. The actual numbers are probably over one billion.
