It depends on how you define Arabic. I would guess that less than 10% of Egyptians could speak Modern Standard Arabic, which is the official version of Arabic used in newspapers and government speeches and laws. If you expand Arabic to include the dialects, than the Modern Egyptian dialect is spoken by the vast majority of the population. In the south, people speak some Sudanese dialects of Arabic. In the western deserts and the Sinai Peninsula there are other, less common forms of Arabic dialect spoken by the Bedouin peoples.
