Hemorrhoids are a fairly common problem among adults in the United States and Canada; it is estimated that ten million people in North America, or about 4% of the adult population, have hemorrhoids.

It's a common thing to get. I can't remember the exact statistics but I do remember that somewhere around 80% of all Americans will get hemorrhoids at least once in their lifetime. So translate that to around the world and you're probably looking at a similar statistic.

People with IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and other digestive illnesses will be more prone and from what I've heard stress can cause them and straining whilst trying to go to the toilet can cause them.

Thanks,

Tom
