All kinds of people were put into Nazi concentration camps during World War II. One of the hardest hit communities were the Jews of Europe (and some from North Africa, too). About six million died in concentration camps, though there were survivors.

It is estimated that somewhere between 8 and 10 million people died in the concentration camps, plus about 200,000 survivors who either escaped the camps, or were freed from them after the war.

Millions were kept in concentration camps and hundreds of thousand were used for slave labor. Six millon were killed. It is hard to have a completely accurate number because many of the documents about the prisoners were burned.
