you would need about 99 people to build a castle.
It took about 456 people to build a castle
it took the whole village to build the castle and even the whole country
a long time!!
This really depends on the force that they were defending against, But generally speaking invasion forces would require three times the amount of men that would be defending the castle, due to the high casualty rate inflicted by the many defenses that the castle would have, such as oil and archers.

you need to make sure you have enough guards to guard the castle its around 20
Dublin Castle was originally built in about 1204. It was ordered by King John. He told a man called Meilyr Fitzhenry to build it. Since then a lot of work has been done on it by many different people so it is different now than the original castle would have been.
The number of people could range from three or four dozen to over three thousand. They included mostly unskilled workers, but also included others, depending on the type of castle. A stone castle would require a large number of masons, but regardless of type, woodcutters, smiths, and so on would be needed. Bricks weren't used to build castles, but stone and wood.
20,000
=They built so many in all different countries!=
At Goodrich Castle, at least 100 to 150 people would have lived there, just to take care of the Lord's family. Estimates suggest that around 200 people lived in the castle at any given time.
