As many as you've earned. A permanent unit award is one worn by a soldier who was assigned to the unit during the period on the unit award certificate. If you were assigned to the 5000th Artillery Regiment (not a real unit, but it'll work) from 1 January 2001 to 1 January 2004, and the 5000th Artillery Regiment earned the Presidential Unit Citation for its work from 1 March 2002 to 1 July 2002, you can wear the Presidential Unit Citation as long as you're in the Army. Sergeant Smith over there who arrived at the unit on 12 July 2002 can only wear it while he's assigned to the 5000th Artillery. If you'd been in six or seven units that earned unit awards, and you were in them WHEN they did whatever it was they did to earn the awards, you could conceivably wear ten or twelve permanent unit awards. It's not likely, but you could do it.
You have to wear all of your permanent awards. The only thing that you do wear and is not permanent is the unit crests. You also wear the unit awards if you belonged to that unit when the award was received.
You wear the unit's awards; however, if you were a part of unit at the time it earned a unit award, those awards carry over with you.
Yes. But you do not wear unit awards.
Navy Meritorious Unit Commendations do follow you to other branches. They are considered permanent awards from all branches, except the Army. Unit Commendations from the Army may not follow you to other branches, or even other units. As long as you were serving in the unit when the commendation was earned, it is a permanent award that you can wear on your uniform regardless of service. Otherwise, the wear of any unit award is only worn when you are actually assigned to that unit (temporary award).
do you wear unit awards on the dress blues for a military ball
This may sound confusing- I hope I explain in such a way it can be understood. Unit awards (Presidential Unit Citations, i.e.) are not personal decorations- they are awarded to members of an entire unit on a single date. If you were a member of the unit when it was awarded, you can wear it forever, regardless of where your military career sends you. If you became a member of that unit AFTER the Citation was awarded, you can wear it while you are a member of that unit, but upon transfer, you are no longer authorized to wear it on your uniform.
2nd squadron has presidential unit citation with 3 oak leaf clusters, 1 valorous unit and 1 superior unit award
It doesn't work that way. If they serve in a unit which was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation prior to their serving in that unit, they would wear the Presidential Unit Citation with their unit awards only while they are in that unit. If they serve in a unit when it is awarded the Presidential Unit Citation, then they wear that award at all times, regardless of what unit they're in.However, if neither of these is applicable, then it may not be worn, whether the service member is a combat veteran or not.
its centered 1/8 of an inch above the seem of the right pocket (as worn)
If you are in that unit when it's awarded the Meritorious Unit Citation, yes. If the award was bestowed to the unit before you were in it, then no.

If you are asking as a member, go to your S-1 (Orders, pay, etc) and ask. This is not something kept a secret. If they cannot help, check your services awards and decorations regulations.
