A 14" round cake pan takes 10 cups of batter. A standard cake mix yields 5 cups, so it takes 2 boxes of cake mix PER LAYER. Cook at 325 degrees for 50-55 min.
To ice this cake you'll need approx 7 1/2 cups of icing.
It's also recommended to use a heat core for cakes over 12" .
1. before you cut it anyway. after that, you (assuming that you made the cake and have the authority to decide how many pieces it is divided into) can divide it into however the hell many pieces you want.
Baking time would be the same as for a 9 x 13 pan, about 30 - 35 minutes for a typical cake mix. Always test for doneness by touch or by piercing with a toothpick.

for an 14 in round cake pan, you only need 1 box
It depends on how deep the cake pan is.

Most cake mixes are for a 9x13 pan which is 117 sq. inches. 12x12 is 144 sq. inches. 1 mix would be enough and shorten the cooking time by 5 to 8 minutes.
Generally it depends on how deep (how many layers) your cake is. Standard serving size of a piece of cake is 1" x 2". Also depending on how large you want to cut your slices (sensible vs generous), a 7" round cake can serve anywhere from 6-10 people.
It all depends on how thick the cake is. Try using a 10 inch or 12 inch pans that are 3 inches deep. Or you can do 8 inch, 10 inch, and 12 inch that are 2 inches deep and double layer each one and that would be enough. Where I live its hard to find 3 inch deep cake pans. See the Cakefairy link below for a listing of cake sizes per servings.
You should order for only 90% of your guests. Some people will not eat the cake. So again, only order for 90% - in your case that means 12 people or one cake box mix - or one 9 inch round/square cake.
