A Periodic Table might help you in this case. The atomic number is the same as the number of protons and electrons in a neutral atom.

See related link for periodic table.

You can tell by the atomic number on the periodic table. For example, Hydrogen is number 1, so it has 1 electron. Oxygen is number 8, so it has 8 electrons. This is also the number of protons the atom has.

An atom has the same number of protons and electrons, although the number of neutrons may vary, but what that number is depends on what element it is an atom of, as the element is defined by the number of protons, and therefore the number of electrons.

Nothing is following. Also, just take a look at the periodic table of elements (which, if you don't have one, can be easily looked up on Google) which will give you the atomic number of each element. Every element has exactly as many protons as its atomic number, and in their neutral state (not ionized) they also have exactly that number of electrons.

The number of protons determines what kind of atom (element) it is. It is the atomic number of the more than 100 different elements.

Yes it does. All elements have electrons, protons, and neutrons.

What makes an element unique?

Every atom has a certain number of protons, neutrons, and electrons. Different elements have different amounts of these. Particularly, different elements have different numbers of protons. For example, if an atom only has 1 proton it must be hydrogen.
