Park the vehicle on a level surface and drain the oil and change the filter. Pour in 4 quarts of oil and start the engine. Let it run for 1 minute. Shut off and wait 30 minutes. Check the oil level and add as necessary to fill to the full mark. You now know the capacity.
If you are changing the oil and the filter then you will need 5 quarts.
If you are changing out the oil completely, you will need 5 quarts of oil to fill the reservoir.
When changing the oil, you will need 2.4 quarts of oil when you are replacing the oil filter.
