briggs doesn't offer compression ratings for their engines. I will usually pull it 3 to 5 times and look for 90 to 120. anything less is a problem and if it doesn't hold compression there is a problem
you need to hold the inner screw while tightening the outer nut
I'm doing this now. i drilled through the rivets. started with an 1/8th drill bit and a little oil on top of the rivet. the problem is going to be finding replacement screws that will hold the starter cage once you have replaced the cord. some Briggs and stratton engineer needs to be taken to the wood shed.
48 ounces without filter change. 52 ounces with filter change. Do not overfill. I recommend you use Synthetic oil in any air cooled engine.
