Skipping questions on the SAT is advisable if you don't know the answer to a question and are unable to eliminate any of the answer choices. If you can rule out even one or two incorrect answers, you should always answer that question even if you have to make a blind guess, since probability states that you'll gain more points by guessing in this fashion than you'll lose by answering some of the questions incorrectly. You can check the FAQ section at www.learnglc.com for a detailed answer from experts.

Any number of random people could be answering your questions. To know who is specifically answering your questions, you can click on the user name that is showing up around the answer. Or you can go to your contributions (available in the Quick Links section on the left), then filter by questions asked if you have many contributions, and then go to each of the questions and check the history page (in the Question Tools section) for each one. Then you can go to their profiles and see what their rank on the site is. They could be unregistered contributors, new users, regular users, supervisors, senior supervisors, or even community assistants.
Answers is much different (and better!) than an Internet comment section. Many, if not all, of the people who answer are very interested in providing what they feel are the best answers to the questions that have been asked. There are people with passion for certain subjects (say, art) who are thrilled to lend their expertise. There are Experts with qualifications in different fields who answer many of the questions, and there are Supervisors for each section. There are also others who research, edit, and do all sorts of things to ensure that as many questions as possible have answers of the highest quality. Also, generally people on this site are eager to help others, which is a trait not often found in an Internet comment section.
