Fast or no fast its obligatory to pray 5 times. If you don't pray during Ramadhan then your fasting is like dieting.
The 9th month called Ramadhan, of the Islamic calendar is the whole moth of fasting for the Muslims.
It means fasting which can be carried out anytime but usually done during the month of Ramadhan.
