George Washington was the first President of the United States, taking office in April of 1789. William McKinley was elected to a 2nd term in 1900 as the 25th President.
The most consecutive elections won by the same party since 1900 is five (the Democratic Party 1932-1948). The most consecutive presidents elected from the same party since 1900 is three (Republicans McKinley, Roosevelt and Taft 1900-1908 and Republicans Harding, Coolidge and Hoover 1920-1928)

For the most part, the US federal government was dominated by the Republican Party from 1860 to 1900. This is a large span of time and there were times within these years that Democrats were elected as presidents, senators and representatives.
William McKinley was elected President in 1900.
Spain was a monarchy in those years. It did not have presidents.
In a way this is what happened in 1912. Former President Theodore Roosevelt, who was elected as a Republican Vice President in 1900 and as a Republican President in 1904, tried to get the nomination in 1912, but when he failed to get it, he ran as a third party candidate against the incumbent Republican president William Howard Taft. Both were defeated by Democrat Woodrow Wilson.
There was a pattern that the presidents electives in years divisible by 20 would die in office.. The presidents elected in 1840, 1860, 1880, 1900, 1920, 1940, and 1960 all died in office. Reagan was elected in 1980 but did not die in office ( although he was severely wounded in an assassination attempt)
Independent Republican Party was created in 1900.
The 3 United States Presidents in the 1920's were: Warren G. Harding ~ Calvin Coolidge ~ and Herbert Hoover.
He was elected US president in 1896 and again in 1900.
