According to a 2011 Humane Society of the United States survey, four million cats and dogs from US shelters are put to sleep every year. According to statistics of the same survey, one animal is out to sleep every eight seconds. The ASPCA also did a survey, determining that only one out of every three shelter dogs gets adopted, and two are put to sleep; so two thirds of shelter dogs are put to sleep . Depressing, I know.
yes many shelters still put dogs down sadley
Sadly 3-4 thousand dogs get put down a month n this is just on animal shelters imagine how many get ran over or abused ect n they did nothing it's sad :'(
it all depends on it behaivor Maybe 40%
yes
There's not a statistic in existence that is accurate on this.. It's not mandatory for shelters to record the amount of dogs put down period, let alone the dogs put down who hurt someone. What you're asking is practically impossible. But if you're scared of dogs because you fear they'll hurt you, do some research on how to interact with dogs (properly) and how to read canine body language. You'll feel much safer.
Veterinarians can euthanize dogs, but your question is not complete.
Ther are 20,000 dogs put down in one week for dog fighting and 400,000 in one year for dog fighting.
Euthanasia
anaimal abuse is coming more and more common these days and many shelters are trying to help out the problem
I'm afaid i can't give you the figure for this answer but i know that b=not many dogs survive usually the pound has to put them down after a week or two and only a few get adoptated

Pounds put dogs to sleep because there is either over crowding of dogs in the shelter or pound or the dog is sick and can't be helped so they put it out of its suffering. I don't like the idea of putting down a dog that is perfectly healthy or any animal for that matter but they do it anyway. This is the best answer I can give. Hope it helps. And that the dog could be to mean. And they unfortunately, can't do anything for the case but put them down.
