However, this is problematic because as you leave the station while riding on Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road, you hear the narrator proclaim: "Hang onto your hats and glasses, folks, cause this here's the wildest ride in the wilderness!" One would be hard pressed not to call Big Thunder Mountain Rail Road a ride when the narrator calls it as such.
According to Disneyland, as of March 2008, there are 55 official "attractions" in Disneyland. However, many of those would not be considered "rides".
If we only consider what you could arguable call a "ride," then Disneyland has 36 rides:

Although the rides at Disney Hollywood Studios are mostly thrill-oriented, there are some rides in the park that aren't, but are geared to explaining the process of moviemaking. According to the Disney Parks website, Disney's Hollywood Studios by itself, contains 44 attractions (some of these are shows and events).

These are both great parks, and they both have attractions for many different age groups. You have to consider the individual child and their interests. Is your little one more about Doc McStuffins or Spider Man? Universal Studios has an entire section of Dr. Seuss in the Islands of Adventure area. There are rides for Cat in the Hat, The Lorax, as well as Seuss related shops. There are also two different Harry Potter villages, complete with Potter related rides, shops, and places to eat. Universal also has a Marvel area where the kids can see heroes such as Iron Man or Spider Man. If they aren't afraid of dinosaurs, there is a large Jurassic Park area as well. Hollywood Studios has the benefit of easily recognizable Disney characters. There is an Elsa and Anna sing along, Toy Story Mania, and Star Wars themed Jedi training. There is a Little Mermaid musical and Disney Junior Live, where several popular Disney kid shows are live on stage. When it comes to the little ones, Universal tends to be more up and moving, and has more rides. Hollywood tends to have more sit down shows and character encounters. You would need to plan accordingly for each.
There are 6 rides in SeaWorld Orlando!
Universal Studios Florida has 12 rides in total. (12/4/09) Universal Studios Hollywood has 16 rides in total. (12/4/09)

Universal Studios is located in Hollywood in the Universal City section of L.A. As one of the oldest and most famous Hollywood movie studios still in use, it often attracts many tourists.
36 miles
Well, the Islands of Adventure have many more thrill rides, but the Universal Studios have The Mummy and the Rip Ride Rock it. In total the IOA have a few more rides, but I would recommend the one day two park ticket.
Real estate prices have driven most of them out of Hollywood itself. However in the Los Angeles are there seem to be 18 studios making films and television shows.
Yes, the park is called Universal Studios Florida.
