The Battle of Chapultepec took place in Chapultepec Castle, west of Mexico City and was fought between the United States and Mexico in September 1847.
There were two of them: Chapultepec to the west of the city, and Churubusco, to the south of Mexico's capital. The most notorious is the Chapultepec castle, which had several military cadets who "fell heroically against the invading hordes" on September 13, 1847.
It is a national park within Mexico City. It contains the "Cerro de Chapultepec" or Hill of the Grasshoppers, where a castle was built in the 18th century. The building has served several purposes during its history, including that of Military Academy, Imperial residence, Presidential home, observatory, and finally museum.
