why might Odysseus have committed on the cyclopes way of life before relating his adventure in their land
After Odysseus "visits" the cyclops, he and his men go to the Land of the Dead.
His ship got destroyed by a storm.
To get his men out of the cave safe.
In the land of the Cyclopes, Odysseus demonstrates his intelligence and cunning by devising a plan to blind Polyphemus and escape. He also exhibits bravery and leadership by taking charge of the situation and guiding his men through the dangerous ordeal. Additionally, Odysseus shows his loyalty and commitment to his crew by refusing to abandon them, even when faced with great danger.
They had been driven by storm to an island near the land of the cyclopes. The next morning Odysseus decided to see what land that was. Nobody knew about the cyclopes. To understand the Odyssey I recommend you read it.

After they leave the cyclopes' island, Odysseus takes his ships back to the neighboring island that they stopped at before (the one with really good land for farming but no seeds have been planted and lots of goats). They sacrifice the goat that Odysseus used to escape- Polyphemus' biggest ram. They sacrifice it to Zeus, but Zeus ignores it.
