NASA's space shuttle fleet is stored at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
The USA's Enterprise was the first shuttle but was built in 1976 as a test platform for the future shuttle fleet. The Challenger was the first to achieve Earth orbit in 1981. Of the Soviet fleet of shuttles, only one acheved Earth orbit and successful reentry, but this occured much later, when the USSR decided the US shuttles represented a serious security threat. The Soviet shuttles were moth-balled upon the collapse of the CCCP (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics). No other countries have built successful shuttles.
Some of the space shuttles that have been used in space programs around the world include NASA's Space Shuttle fleet (e.g. Discovery, Atlantis, Endeavour), the Soviet Union's Buran, and China's Shenzhou.
After the Challenger disaster in 1986, NASA retired its remaining three Space Shuttle orbiters— Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour were built as replacements. Following the Columbia disaster in 2003, the decision was made to retire the remaining Space Shuttle fleet, and they were not replaced with new shuttles.
Currently NASA have three space shuttles Discovery, Atlantis and Endeavour.
NASA built a total of five space shuttles: Columbia, Challenger, Discovery, Atlantis, and Endeavour. These shuttles were in operation from 1981 to 2011.

When the launch director determines that conditions are not sufficiently safe, the launch will be cancelled (or scrubbed). The entire fleet of space shuttles was grounded twice to allow time for serious safety concerns to be addressed. This happend after each space shuttle disaster (Challenger and Columbia).
The space shuttle fleet was retired due to its high operating costs, safety concerns, and the need to shift focus towards deep space exploration missions. Additionally, the shuttles had been in service for over 30 years and were becoming outdated and expensive to maintain.
There is a total of five space shuttles that belonged to NASA. These shuttles are Discovery, Atlantis, Endeavour, Columbia, and Challenger. However, they have all been retired from service.
