A WW1 battleship had a crew (sailors) somewhere between 800 and 1,200. British ships (Royal Navy) were also home to a contingent of Royal Marines.

Only one old German PRE-DREADNAUGHT was lost in a sea fight. There were no decisive battleship fleet actions fought during WWI. Just one or two Battlecruiser/Cruiser engagements.
