im from Ohio and my aunt is from NC and it takes 2 to send a letter. and 3-6 for a parcel

Only 1 stamp is required for a domestic letter. I've sent letters across the country using 1 stamp--that's what it is for. Within the contiguous US postage rates do not change based on the distance to be delivered.
