Take your envelope to the Post Office and they will weight it, and give you your answer as the cost of mailing anything is done by weight.
As of June 10, one ounce of first class mail is 44¢. Every additional ounce is 20¢. So, a six ounce envelope would cost $1.44 to mail, or four forever stamps.
The number of stamps needed for an envelope depends on the weight and destination. The weight limit for a standard USPS First-Class Mail envelope is 3.5 ounces. For an envelope weighing 12 lbs, you would need to use a different shipping method, such as USPS Priority Mail or USPS Priority Mail Express. The specific number of stamps required can be calculated using the USPS postage rate calculator or by visiting your local post office.
how many stamps for a 3.4oz envelope
You do not need airmail stamps because all letters go by airmail. The postage for a standard sized envelope weighing one ounce or less is 98 cents. There is a postage calculator at http://ircalc.usps.gov/
I successfully mail CDs all the time with 2 stamps.
, Could you please tell me how much postage I would need to mail a large envelope weighing 4.3 OZ to the UK?
If it weighs up to one ounce and is rigid and not extra thick you can mail it for 88 cents ( two first-class stamps). If it weighs 2 ounces the cost is $1.08. If it heavier or thicker, it will cost more.
In a standard size envelope, as of June 2009, you need 75 cents in stamps to mail an envelope up to 1 ounce to Canada. You could use two 44 cent stamps (you would be paying too much) or you can buy 75 cents of stamps at a post office. You need an additional 25 cents worth of stamps for each additional ounce or fraction of an ounce. Letters over 3.5 ounces have different rates.
At that weight, it would be classified as a large envelope rather than a letter. As of 2016, the rate is $3.04.
