how many states have no security officer regulations

As of May 2020, there were approximately 1.18 million security officers employed in the United States, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. This number may vary depending on industry demand and economic conditions.
Security guards have the authority to enforce rules and regulations set by their employer at the premises they are assigned to protect. They can detain individuals for questioning, request identification, and escort trespassers off the property. However, they do not have the same legal authority as law enforcement officers and cannot make arrests or carry out investigations.
Contrary to popular belief, Security Officers do have authority, and in many cases they have just as much, if not more authority than a Police Officer. Security Officers are basically private police and in the olden days they were often referred to as this (ex: Coal Mine Police). A security company is contracted out by a client to protect 'usually' private property, so therefore they are the police of that property. This is why Security Officers often have more authority than Police Officers. Police have very limited authority on private property unless a warrant is issued by a judge. Also, in many states security companies will be contracted out by local governments to police their public areas. For example; in South Carolina every Security Officer has as much authority as a Police Officer and have the right to issue speeding tickets, arrests, etc. They also use blue lights on their vehicles instead of the usual yellow lights used by most Security Officers around the country. Security Officers often have serious, dangerous jobs much like police officers and they are here to accomplish the same goal which is to keep people, and property safe. So next time you want to bash a Security Officer; think twice.
Depends on the regulations where you are. Many Special Police Officers DO have the same authority as city or county police officers, but for specialized areas. Some of them DO carry firearms.
There are roughly one million commissioned law enforcement officers in the United States.
In 2013, 105 Law Enforcement Officers died in the line of duty in the United States of America.
Many states require this, but many states don't.
"Unfortunately, this type of information is not usually made publically available due to security issues. Airport security regulations have become extremely tight after 9/11."
Not only do many states have regulations about bringing liquor into their states, the airline, and the FAA, have regulations about what can, and cannot, be carried as freight or baggage onto aircraft.
Improved security officer training meets rising state requirements. Security officer training is the foundation of excellent service in an ever-changing and demanding field. A variety of institutions, businesses, hospitals and public and private security agencies hire security officers. Employers have discovered that educating their officers is the best way to meet the goal of a safe and secure environment and to provide their officers the tools they need to successfully do their jobs. Training security officers involves two phases. Just after the hiring process a period of on-the-job training is usually provided to educate new officers concerning the objectives they need to meet. This is accomplished by classroom instruction or by accompanying more experienced officers during the regular tour of duty. A general overview of the duties and responsibilities are presented and the new security officers are allowed to become familiar with the business or governmental agency they’re working for. Both methods of instruction are frequently used to allow new officers to become acclimated to the work site and the various aspects of the job. The second way that security officers receive training is through an on-going basis during the duration of employment. Officers armed with firearms are required to complete in-service training in the use of the weapons and to pass proficiency tests on a regular basis. Other types of on-the-job training include updated first-aid classes and instruction on changing court decisions in the realm of criminal and civil law and how it affects officers’ duties. A combination of classroom and practical training provides officers with the expertise they need. Another way that security officers are trained depends solely on the discretion of the officers. Online colleges offer degree programs that are from accredited colleges and universities. Many aspiring security officers obtain an associates or bachelors degree in criminal justice prior to becoming employed. The degree provides a competitive edge to a candidate when he’s looking for a job in security as well as fulfilling any educational requirements for upper level management positions later on. Security officers who are already employed and who would like to be promoted into management positions can also take advantage of an online degree program.
In many states, probation officers are sworn law enforcement officers so, yes, they can arrest you on a properly issued warrant.
For many years a protective helmet was not required in many US states, including California. There was strong rider resistance to such laws or regulations. However, police motorcycle officers wore helmets for safety, to prevent head injuries in an accident. Thus, California along with many other states began to mandate helmets in motorcycling. It's been this way in California for many decades.
