See that's a tricky question that can be answered a couple of ways. Some would say that no States regulate body piercing, which would be true to some extent, then others would say that all States regulate body piercing, which would also be true to some extent......... Confused? Yeah I thought so......I will explain what regulation means when it come to body piercing.

Each body piercing studio is a business and that business must have a business license for the town or city it's in to conduct business, with that licensing from let say the city, the city will require that studio to under go a health inspection prior to being granted a license to provide services. The health inspection is where a lot of wannabe body piercers get caught, they don't have the knowledge, skills, training or facilities to properly provide the services. They flunk the health inspection and lots of money goes down the tubes due to poor research and even worse knowledge.

Every body piercing facility be it in a hair salon or a tattoo parlor must also be inspected prior to providing any service and the inspection report must be posted along with the business license so any one can see it.

Now as for State regulations, most States leave that up to there respective Health Protection Office to deal with just like tattooing or hair salons any place a service is provided to the human body they must be inspected to ensure public safety. Some States have enacted regulations geared just toward body piercing and others don't and relie on there standing health protection regulations.

So you see all States regulate body piercing, but only some have enacted specific regulations on body piercing alone generally due to some one doing something they shouldn't have been doing in the first place. Check out the APP website for more detailed information about State body piercing regulations, they can be found at www.safepiercing.org . Now I am not an APP member nor do I ever intend on being after 16 plus years of doing this professionally in Canada, but the APP in the US is a fairly good source for body piercing stats in the US. So check them out.

Don't forget that townships, counties and cities can also regulate body piercing so there is another stop gap in the road to regulation.

Are there any nerves you can damage with a nose piercing?

So long as the piercing is done by a professional body piercer working in a licensed and inspected facility you should have no problems. Piercing guns are not designed to nor intended to be used for nostril piercing, in many countries the use of a piercing gun is strictly governed by local and federal health regulations. Now as for nerve damage, there is a nerve bundle that is not far from the area that is pierced, so care is needed to maintain control of the piercing process. This is why body piercing in any area of the body should always be left to the trained experienced professional body piercers.

How to Express Your Creativity With Body Piercing?

Body piercing is an ancient art once used to signify a person’s social status, authority or to beautify the body. Many cultures and some religions still practice the art of body piercing today. Modern-day body piercing jewelry comes in many styles, made with different materials ranging from titanium to jewels. Consider the steps below to help express your creativity through body piercing. • Step 1: Relate your lifestyle and beliefs to your desired body piercing creativity. Some cultures and religions have designated piercing placement. This in itself is a form of elected creativity. • Step 2: Consider body piercing placement. Piercing placement will express the type of creativity you seek. Lifestyle or career may not tolerate body piercings that can openly be observed. Ear piercing is the most common form of body piercing, however nose, tongue, belly button, eye brow and lip piercing have also become very popular placement choices. • Step 3: Choose body piercing jewelry made of quality materials. Some individuals have skin sensitivities to certain metals and can cause an allergic reaction leading to infection; these individuals usually know they have these allergies prior to body piercing consideration. Jewelry comes in many different materials such as gold, silver, stainless steel and plastic. Titanium is a popular material used in body jewelry because it is light-weight, sterile and offers many options such as barbells, rings and arched eyebrow rings. • Step 4: Be aware of the healing time of a chosen body piercing. Tongue piercings heal fairly quickly and are easy to take care of. Belly button piercings’ can take up to several weeks or months to properly heal with the recommendation to avoid swimming during healing. • Step 5: Choose a qualified body piercing studio. Ensure the piercing studio maintains health standards to avoid infectious diseases and potential infections. Body piercing remains a popular and safe choice for expressing personal creativity. Choosing a health standard conscious body piercing studio with your choice of placement and style of jewelry considerate of your lifestyle, religion or culture will ensure a positive creative outlet experience.
