He finished out Roosevelt fourth term after Roosevelt had served almost three months of it and then Truman was elected to a term of his own .

He succeeded FDR on April 12, 1945 and was elected for his first elected term on November 2, 1948. You should also note that he was our last president that did not graduate college and he died in relative poverty.
