In terms of diameter, the Sun is 400 times the Moon's diameter. It is also 400 times as far away and this means that the disk of the moon and the sun appear the same size when viewed from earth.
The week is larger than a day and not based on any heavenly body (sun, moon, constellations, etc).
A hectogram is larger than a gram EVERY TIME; 100 times larger, to be exact.
It is when the moon is more than half full and getting larger. So it is any stage between half full and full.
Actually, the Moon appears larger when it is at the horizon. This is every time you happen to see it near the horizon, but it is only an illusion.Actually, the Moon appears larger when it is at the horizon. Titan, Saturn's largest moon, is the only moon in our solar system with its own atmosphere. It (and Jupiter's Ganymede) are both larger than Mercury. I believe the surface gravity on each is less than that of Mercury, however. Not absolutely certain of this. I saw Titan for the first time earlier this year, through our astronomy club's new 14" telescope.
The largest amoeba is more than 2,500 times larger than the smallest bacterium.
Jupiter is about 62.5 times larger than Pluto.
To be precise about it, it varies somewhat, depending on the moon's distance from the earth, just as you'd expect. At the time of the full moon on December 31, it was 33' 57", or 2,037 arc seconds ... about 10% larger than 1/2 degree. At the time I'm writing this ... 11 days after that full moon ... the moon's apparent visual diameter is 30' 25", or 1,825 arc seconds ... about 10.4 % smaller than 11 days ago, and now just 1 % larger than 1/2 degree.
