Pregnancy is not the only thing that can cause a late period. Birth Control and morning after pill can also delay your period, as can recently being ill. However, the best thing to do would be to perform a pregnancy test to determine if you are pregnant or not.
There are a few sensitive preg tests that can you can use up to 5 days before your period is due, such as First Response's Early Results test. Even so, it can't give you a definite negative 5 days before---in terms of an accurate negative, the accuracy rate increases each day you get closer to your period. This is because it's possible for a woman to be pregnant, but not have high enough HCG levels for the test to register a positive that many days before her period. However, if you get a positive, you can rely on it no differently than if you had used a traditional test on the day of your missed period. The reason for the varying levels of accuracy is b/c a woman's body doesn't produce the HCG hormone until the fertilized egg has attached to her uterus. On average, it takes a fertilized egg 6 to 10 days to implant...so a woman whose egg implants on Day 6 post-conception will have higher levels of HCG around the time of her missed period than a woman whose egg didn't implant until 10 days post-conception. Your HCG levels double every 2-3 days, so if you use an early detection test & get a negative, you should wait 3 days before testing again.
About a month or so, a late period and swelled up breasts, headaches, cramps, cravings are signs.

There are no days before your period, when you already are pregnant. As soon as you are pregnant your next due period at the 4th will not come. When you are without periods for 2 months, it is very likely that you are pregnant. Many women don't know, that after 10 days after their last period, they are in a period of another 10 days that hey can become pregnant. Mostly it is only 7 days. So that means that 21 days between your period you cannot become pregnant. Short: Period + 10 days free. + 8 days pregnancy possible. + 10 days free. Dr. Phylopi
