At last count 12. There have been several where he has not showed up. One time he refused to go unless he could go without handcuffs. That was nixed by guards so he refused to go. I doubt it would have made any difference, his chances of walking again as a free man are zip.
Trying to talley Manson's arrests can be problematic considering his life of crime began in 1948, he was 9 years old. His arrests occured in different states over decades, making it all the more difficult to compile accurate numbers. It is probably safe to say though, that several dozen arrests would not be surprising.
Appeals or parole hearings? Initially Manson received a death sentence which has automatic appeals built in to it. But shortly after Manson was convicted capital punishment was abolished so whatever appeals had begun were cancelled. Manson has had 11 parole hearings, all turned down. His next hearing will be sometime in 2012 if he even decides to attend.
It was, as were all the hearings that preceeded it. I believe that 1997 was the last hearing he attented. He has been denied so many times he felt it was a waste of time to even bother. He was right. I imagine that when Manson finally leaves prison it will be in a wooden box.

The most popular and in most opinions the best film on Manson is called Helter Skelter ,starring Steve Railsback as Manson. The movie was based on the True Crime Bestselling book of the same name written by Manson prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi. The best time to look for the airing of this movie is when one of the Manson gang are up for a parole hearing. Airing the movie keeps the crime fresh in the public's eye as a move to keep the murderers in prison. It is working, too. Manson has been up for parole many times but has always been denied because in part, public outcry. Sharon Tate's mother was at every parole hearing of Manson and the 3 women who were convicted with him until her recent death. Rumor has it that he is up for another parole hearing in 2010.
Leonard Peltier has been denied parole once on 28 July 2009. His next parole hearing date will be July 2024.
Unlikely. Manson has been before the parole board so many times and always gets turned down. Before a prisoner can be paroled they must admit their crime and show remorse. Manson will do neither. Another factor is that Manson and his crimes are so notorious that people just don't want him out of prison. I doubt any parole board would let him out because the public would demand they be replaced.
Chapman has not been granted parole and has been denied a total of 8 times.
Yes. He has been denied parole 4 times.

According to Charlie, nothing. The reality is Charles Manson was convicted of multiple counts of first degree murder and multiple counts of conspiracy to commit murder. Which in plainspeak means he was in a lot of trouble. Originally given the death penalty, later reduced to life with parole. Although he has tried many times to win his freedom, no parole board in their right minds would let him out.
