Daniel Chavez Moran does not have a pet goat. He grew up in a farm outside San Angelo but he does not have a pet goat.
If the questioner is referring to the Daniel of biblical times, he and his friends would have most likely eaten meat (sheep and goat), fish, fruits and vegetables, and wine.
Another name for a goat is kid in reference to a young goat.
Gabriel explains the vision to Daniel later in the chapter:Daniel 8:20, 21 - "The ram which you saw, having the two horns-they are the kings of Media and Persia. And the male goat is the kingdom of Greece. The large horn that is between its eyes is the first king." [NKJV]
1. Perhaps the book was not for kids. 2. The goat was no longer a kid.

Yes a goat can run and at times they can run pretty fast
The goat
The Book of Daniel is traditionally attributed to the prophet Daniel, writing during the sixth-century-BCE Babylonian Exile. However, scholars no longer see the book as an eyewitness record, and place its authorship in the second century BCE. Based on its content, many commentators assume that the Book of Daniel was written sometime between 167 and 164 BCE. On these views, Daniel did not write any known book.

No. I have studied Pagan and historical texts for over 15 years and have yet to find any reference to Pagans remove goat horns.
Goats are not capable of reading, so it would be impossible for a goat to finish a book, regardless of its length or complexity. The behavior you observed was likely the goat simply chewing or playing with the book.
