"Study" does indeed appear three times in the KJV; in Ecclesiastes 12:12, I Thessalonians 4:11 and II Timothy 2:15. It's used only once in the New King James (Eccl. 12:12), twice in the Standard translation (Eccl. 12:12 and I Thessalonians 4:11), and is found four times in the NIV; at Ezra 7:10, Eccl. 1:13 and 12:12, and John 5:39.
