Yes. Most rock groups, especially in the 60's and 70's, used drugs. Brian Wilson said they enhanced his creativity, but has also said they damaged his psyche. Many people blame drugs for Wilson's and the Beach Boys' decline, but the reality is that Wilson also suffered from mental problems unrelated to drugs, and that fact, combined with drugs, made him withdraw from the band for years. On the other hand, Beach Boys Al Jardine and Mike Love were against drugs and advocated Transcendental Meditation and a healthy lifestyle. However their musical contributions to the band were nowhere near what Wilson was doing. Either way, the Beach Boys made some great albums back then! One of my favorites is Sunflower, from 1970.
