Unfortunately, this question is inherantly wrong. Hard drives do not send data anywhere.

On another note, the CPU does hold data, it merely processes it. Say you open a 1.5 million page word processor document, that file is loaded into the RAM. Any changes made in mass to the file, for example a Select All followed by an Underline command, will cause the CPU to process those commands, but the pages themself are still not loaded into the CPU.

The CPU at this point would process the command by making changes to the file in the RAM.

The first hard drives were only a couple of megabytes, while modern hard drives are 3TB and beyond. As technology progresses, hard drives will likely continue to increase in capacity. Therefore, not all hard drives are 2.5GB in size.

Are hard-drives different in PC to macs?

The short answer is No. But the long answer is Yes-and-No. Yes, they are different because hard drives are different sizes and modern Macs only take 2.5" drives. They are also interchangeable because if a 2.5" hard drive is inside a PC, it could be erased and a Mac would accept it just fine.

Do external hard drives have a partition?

Modern disk drive construction more or less requires drives to have at least one partition. Whether the drive is internal or external is immaterial.
