Top question!! Negating the fact that it would be too hot and would melt our drill bits before we hit it, it takes approximately 2-3 weeks to drill 1000m!!So to drill to 50000m ... You would need to compound the time every 1000m by about 1 week per extra 1000m (1000m = 2-3 weeks / 2000m = 4-6 weeks + 1 week and 3000m = 6-9 weeks + 2 weeks)

You would probably give your self 200 weeks so about 4 years :) hope this helps.

How long will it take to drill through the crust?

Currently we cannot drill to the center of the Earth because no drill could withstand the temperatures in Earth's interior. The deepest hole ever drilled reached a depth of 12,262 meters (40,230 ft) or about 7.6 miles before it stopped working properly due to the heat. Earth has a radius of nearly 4,000 miles. Even if we had a drill that could withstand the temperatures of Earth's core, the outer core is liquid and features active convection currents.

Can you drill through tile?

You can drill through tile, but doing so would most likely crack and break the entire tile. It is not recommended to drill through a tile, unless it is a soft tile, where the tile will not break if drilled through.

A good drill is important for use on concrete walls, but the bit you use can be just as necessary. A hammer drill with bit that has a carbide or diamond tip would be a good recommendation, remember that using goggles is vital because of the concrete dust.
