Theodore Roosevelt was U. S. President for seven years and five and a half months (September 14, 1901 - March 3, 1909). Franklin Delano Roosevelt was U. S. President for twelve years and one month (March 4, 1933 - April 12, 1945).

Twelve years, one month and eight days.

Roosevelt was first sworn in on March 4, 1933. All presidents after Washington, up through FDR, were sworn in on March 4. This had been necessary on the old days to give time for the president-elect to make his way to Washington DC. Roosevelt was the last president sworn in on March 4, and the first sworn in on the new, modern inauguration day, January 20. He had taken the oath for his fourth term January 20, 1945, and died April 12.
