I think you would have to be a former teacher, and to become a teacher you must at least go through 4 extra years of college studying what you would need to know when you are a teacher. Then just find an open job for teaching then wait for the principal to retire and apply to the job to be a principal. Then you would spend a year trying the job to see how you like it and if you do well at the job. Then the next year you might get the job as a principal and you might not. But I must worn you it is not the easiest job on the planet, it can be very stressful the first two years or so.
