For a nurse anesthetist, they must first obtain their R.N. degree, which takes 4 years. Then they go for another two years to become an R.N.A. (Registered Nurse Anesthetist). For an anesthesiologist, they first must become a physician, which requires 4 years of pre-med, then 4 years of medical school, then they have to go for another 2 years to become an anesthesiologist.
A nursing degree and also passing a state board exam. This is not easy as it requires years of school. This can also be very expensive as years of specialized nursing school is pricey. Nursing has also not recovered from the recession.
So many young women have the dream of someday becoming a nurse. The only problem is these young women fail to realize what is required for becoming a nurse. A nurse will often have to complete and undergraduate program and a 2-year program to become a nurse. This means a nurse will be in school for up to 6 years.
Neonatal nurses are required to be licensed as a registered nurse, which, depending upon the program you choose, can take two to four years. After obtaining this license and gaining some practical experience in a neonatal intensive care unit (the National Association of Neonatal Nurses recommends two years), you may choose to return to school and obtain a degree as a neonatal nurse practitioner or clinical nurse specialist.

To become a registered nurse, a minimum of two years of schooling is required. This will earn an associates degree in nursing. Many nurses go on to further their education and earn a BSN, or a bachelor of science in nursing degree, with two more years of schooling.
An associate's degree in nursing can be earned in two years of full time classes. Two years after high school a graduate can be a registered nurse.
First, you must have a bachelor's degree with completion of the prerequisite coursework required by medical schools. Then it will take four years of medical school. There will be an additional three or more years to complete the internship and residency requirements.
A nurse practitioner education program is a graduate school level program and is the equivalent of a masters degree. In total 6 years (at least) of education to be a nurse practitioner. In Canada you must have a university degree in nursing in order to get into a nurse practitioner program as well as a number of years experience as a nurse. Once a nurse practitioner program is completed you must write an entrance exam to obtain your license. A regular nursing license does not include the competencies for a nurse practitioner so another exam must be written to test the higher level competencies and skills required of a nurse practitioner. As of 2015, Ceritification and/or Board Ceritication will be required.
