Golden sex-links are a cross between a Rhode Island Red and a Rhode Island White.
Rhode Islands peak production of 260 eggs per year at 16 to 18 months and egg production falls off from there. After about 3 years eggs will be few and far between.
On average about three years. Egg production starts at about 6 to 8 months old and peaks at about 2 years. Eggs will be laid through the third year but not as reliably. This varies with breed and conditions.
One. Any chicken, no matter what the breed will only lay one egg per day maximum. There is no breed of chicken that will ever lay more than one egg in any twenty four hour period. It takes 24 hours for the hen to produce an egg and for some breeds it takes much longer than that.
They can start as early as 4 months but on average you will see your first egg from a pullet at about 20 to 24 weeks old. Some breeds of hens are slow to start laying.
