Are there any type of dogs that can lock their jaws?
DOGS DO NOT HAVE LOCK JAW! IT IS NOT PHYSICALLY POSSIBLE FOR A DOG TO LOCK ITS JAW!
”lock jaw” is a medical condition to where the dogs mouth gets stuck when opening wide.
No dog has a locking jaw. Their jaw may be powerful but NO breed can lock it's jaw. (Not even a pit bull or other bully breed)
No. Dog bite strength is proportional to the size of the dog. There are dog breeds larger than pit bulls. Therefore, there are dogs with stronger bites than pit bulls.
No, no dog does. There is no "locking mechanism" in any dog. Ever.
I have three Staffies, and they can get lock jaw, yes.

No dog has the ability to lock their jaw when biting. “Lock jaw” is a medical condition where ANY dogs mouth can lock when opening wide. It is not breed specific.
Actually this "lock jaw" does not really exist not even in pitties(American Pit Bull). The lock jaw people refer to is actually the muscle that supports the jaw the larger the dogs head the harder the bite in fact rots have the largest bite 365lbs per inch. Lock jaw isn't what it's called it's actually just the dog biting and holding onto it's subject. Rots aren't known for doing this but actually biting repeatably with their massive bite.
Hi there, I own an American Staffordshire Terrier, very powerful dog including the jaw. My best friend owns a boxer and we had this exact discussion between ourselves about 2 years ago. We exhausted every avenue of "lock-jaw". Read every thing we could find about lock jaw and asked numerous Vets. They all had the same answer......No dog on this earth has "lock-jaw". The only case of a dog having lock-jaw was a dog with tetanus lock-jaw, it is very rare that a dog gets this type of disease , that is the only type of lock-jaw a dog may get. It's a medical condition , nothing to do with the actual "lock-jaw" I hope this answered your question...there is no such thing as a dog with "lock-jaw". Its a myth. Check out this site, its the one we found to be most creditable and he confirmed the "lock-jaw" myth http://pitstopnc.tripod.com/id2.html

NO..... NO DOG OF ANY BREED HAS LOCK JAW !!!! That is a myth ! (Not even the pit bull).....
That is a myth. Opening the jaws of a pit-bull with a wooden pry bar, will take some strength but no mechanism to lock the jaw doesn't exists. All dogs have the same kind of jaws but the thing is the pit-bull is the only breed who could hang by the jaw for minutes because is more strong that any other breed.
