One of the problems with recognizing miracles is that some things are so commonplace that we don't recognize them as miracles, while others are only apparent to the eyes of faith.
In the first category, we are all existing, drawing breath, have people who love us, and, in general are living a life that is truly a gift of God even with all its problems. One of the basic axioms of philosophy is that existence is better than non-existence.
In the second place, we have the Most Holy Eucharist, the Body and Blood of Our Blessed Lord along with all His graces which we may receive any day that we are in a state of grace, and by cooperation thereby we may win heaven and an eternity of happiness in union with Our Blessed Lord.
Both of these are great graces which we tend to forget to thank Our Blessed Lord for and to express our appreciation at all He has done for us. We tend to look at our problems, and forget our blessings.
Finally, aside from the sacraments and the graces therefrom, there are the more obviously miraculous things which are truly out of the order of things. For instance, some people I know down at the Cathedral in Savannah prayed (without my knowledge) for a miracle to get the Georgia martyrs canonized. Inexplicably, my doctor informed me one day out of the blue, that I no longer needed the oxygen tank that I had been dragging around for many years, and was going to have until the day I died. Later that day, I was in the Cathedral thanking God for this totally unexpected blessing-which I had never asked for-when one of the guys who had been praying came in, saw me, and asked what happened to my oxygen tank.
When I informed him what happened, he *shouted* "It worked" - causing a bit of consternation among several hundred tourists and my great embarrassment.
There are other things, far less dramatic, that the Holy Spirit accomplishes in people's lives every day when they cooperate with Him, and ask Him to help them. We only have to count our blessings to realize exactly how many real miracles happen every day.
