How might a scientist learn about organisms such as dinosaurs that are no longer alive today?

Most scientists think that dinosaurs are green (for they were a type of lizard) but nobody knows what colour they were exactly. So they could be any possible colour you could think of.
Scientists found out that one of the Egyptian kings had red hair, so there is a possibility that we can find out.

∙ 13y agoWell scientists look for dinosaur fossils. It can only show how they look. It doesn't show what color they are. That's why some books show the dinosaurs black and white. They don't know the color.

∙ 6y agoThey know the size of the bones and the size of where the tendons attach. that lets them calculate how big the muscles were and from that they can make an educated guess of the strength and speed of the animal.

In places, fossil dinosaur footprints exist as casts of sediments filling the original hollows, and measuring these and their pace-length gives a further clue.

∙ 10y agoOnce a dinosaur skeleton has been put together and its size and shape is known, they can make educated guesses as to the amount of muscle and flesh on the dinosaur. If a lot of bones are missing, they have to guess at the shape and size of the skeleton before even estimating the weight. Weight estimates for dinosaurs vary dramatically; for example, Tyrannosaurus could be either 6.5 tons or as much as 12 tons.
