In other words this question asks if the pores are bigger or smaller than the iodine molecules. So.... the answer is that the iodine are smaller than the pores and the pores are bigger, because the iodine molecules need room to pass through, and the pores are not selectively permeable because they let the iodine through.

Why might plant storage organs (such as fruit or tuber) contain both starch and sugar?

Starch and sugar are essentially the same thing. Starch is a polymer (chain) of single sugar molecules. As the starch is made up or broken down, you would expect to find both in the cells responsible for this action.

What might happen if a disease caused a plasma membrane to thicken?

decreased movement of molecules entering the cells decreased movement of molecules entering the cells

What is another form of transport that uses transport proteins to move other ions and small molecules across the plasma membrane?

This process of transportation might be diffusion. Diffusion, by definition, is the process by which molecules spread out, or move from areas where there is a high concentration of molecules to an area where there is a low concentration of molecules. What are the similarities in glycogen starch and cellulose?

The similarities are fairly easy - all three of these molecules are carbohydrates, that means that it is made up of carbons, hydrogens and oxygens. A more familiar description is that carbohydrates are long chains made up of sugar molecules. Another name for carbohydrate is polysaccharide (poly = many, saccharide = sugar). So, you might ask, why aren't starches sweet? Well, the chains are so long that the taste receptors on your tongue can not register them.

Why doesn't protein pass through the cell membrane?

Cell membrane consist of phosholipid layres and have small pores in it aproximately of the size of 80nm which allows only those molecules which are smalles then this pore size. So it is semi or selective permeable.

What physical property of the dialysis tubing might explain its differential permeability?

Dialysis tubing is an impermeable membrane/containment vessel that is stratified with microscopic holes which restrict certain molecules or particles from diffusing through them. This leads dialysis tubing to serve as a selectively permeable membrane because it selectively prevents certain molecules from crossing the membrane based on the size of the molecules. (Typically water and glucose will diffuse through, whereas starch and potassium iodide will not.

What might be a result of a disease that causes thickened plasma membrane?

Decreased movement of molecules entering the cell

Why can sugar molecules can pass the lining of the intestine but starch molecules can't?

because the sugar compound inside each grain is less stickier to the sides of the organs inside your body, contrary to starch which is incredibly resistant to most liquids. the starch will most likely close up the inside of your body and might cause minor stomache cramps.

When a protein channel allows molecules to cross through the cell membrane?

when a protein channel allows molecules to cross through the cell membrane this is called facilitated diffusion. many might mistake this for diffusion which is the process by which molecules tend to move from an area where they are more concentrated to an area where they are less concentrated.

How do molecules that are too large to cross the membrance enter into the cell?

If the large molecule won't pass through the membrane by diffusion, it might be dragged through the membrane by "endocytosis".

they might have it

Why do you need freshly prepared starch solution for iodometric titration?

because, starch undergoes a photochemical reaction. So, with the passage of time it can under go to the photochemical reaction and starch wouldnot be starch but it might have changed in anyother product. so...we should use freshly prepared starch.

Where might one compare auto warranties?

One might compare auto warranties in many different places. For example, one might compare auto warranties in a newspaper ad, in a magazine ad, or even on the internet.
