You will need atleast 512MB of RAM for common application, but the general average now is 1GB. The minimum memory requirement for vista is 512 MB, so it's always better to have more than that.
How much RAM, depends on operating system (minimum requirements) and also the applications you will be running and number of applications you plan to run in parallel. In general more RAM you have better it will be for performance of the machine.
ram is much much faster than OS virtual memory..
The job of Random Access Memory (RAM) is to act as a temporary storage device whenever applications, or internet resources are being used. RAM is used as a temporary storage device, because without the use of RAM if you were to open up an application, or web browser it would not be able to stay open as long as you need it to. So RAM is what allows us to keep open any applications or web browsers that as long as we need them.
Disk storage is used for storing data and RAM (Random Access Memory) is used for running applications and computer services
To run windows 7 you need at least 4gb of ram
Under PalmOS, applications that are installed in RAM get run directly from there. Applications stored on a memory card are copied into RAM by the OS, then are run as a RAM application would.
Random Access Memory stores the functions (applications) on your phone. It is the same as RAM in a PC and allows applications to be stored and run from memory. RAM can be over written, meaning that new applications can be loaded and use the space, once older applications are deleted or closed.
RAM is too small for some applications.
RAM is faster
Your RAM isn't needed, there's nothing to fill it with. RAM is temporary storage, which is used when you have multiple applications running, or using applications which require large amounts of RAM, eg. Games and Video Editing software.
about 3gb of ram is recommended for windows 7 starter.
