Children need less water than adults but it is more important that they always be hydrated. If not, growth and development could be affected. They should be drinking a little over half their weight in ounces of water. So, if a child weighs 100 pounds, he or she should drink a little over 50 ounces of water.

Children under the age of 5 should drink around 1 litres a day children aged 5-10 should drink about 2-3 and children above the age of 10 should drink aboout 4 litres a day!
