How much a person with Ph.D makes?

That is 100% dependent on what job you get. Obviously doctors and surgeons make hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you become a professor at a university, you could be making 50,000 or much more depending on how much funding your department gets for different research projects.

Then again, even if you do have a PhD, doesn't guarantee you a good job. You could still be a janitor and make 20k a year.
