Read the back of the bottle. All quality algecides will give you an ingredient and a dosage rate. Look for phrases on the back like "Free of visible algae" or "maintenance dose" or "Weekly thereafter". You will usually see a measure in ounces per ten thousand gallons.
It is not recommended to swim in water that is being treated with most algaecides.
