Anna Mary Robertson, 'Grandma Moses', was an American folk artist, remembered and celebrated specially because she was able to start and have a successful career as a painter despite her advanced age. It's reported that she started painting because she started developing arthritis when she turned 76 years old, being an avid embroiderer, it became more and more difficult to her to manage the thread and needle, so one of her friends suggested her to start painting instead.
