Military scientist is not sure, but under current development, the most advance so far seem to be Dragon skin armor. By the next 10 year, the body armor will be far better then current that it possibly could take on dozens of AK 47 shots simultaneously without injure the wearer. So it will be better!
Light. Heavy armor might get in the way and weigh you down. Light is much more attractive of course ;). Heavy armor does offer a lot of benefits though.

well pretty much the 1st kind of armor was leather (hardened animal skin or in other words "hide") then chain mail (chain mails are the kind of armors that are made of rings bound together) then metals like the armor people would usually think would be what knights armor is made out of. -Alex M.-
