Appliance specialist make a lot based off spiffs unless product is marked down.. any other dept sales specialist will get usually around 1-3% depending on the margin.
That's what you make & depends upon the percentage & your sales.
100% Commission
Depending on the company they may make salary, commission, or some combination of the two. You should check with the company you are wondering about to see what they offer.
No more commissions as of today, feb 11, 2012. Lowes just announced a few days ago that sales commissions will no longer be paid. they will pay sales associates one half of 2011's commissions earned, divided by 52 weeks, and add that tiny amount to future paychecks. Folks in appliances are going to take a huge hit. I have been at Lowes since August of last year, and rather than prorating my 18 weeks of service to Lowes for commission, they divided mine by the whole year. It works out that I will make an additional $2.57/ week. I can understand they may not want to pay huge commissions the appliance sales people, but to screw newer hires really annoys me. I really like working there, but I have no desire to work for $10.45/ hr with no chance of a raise until september. To sum things up.... great place to work, as long as you are willing to work at a low starting wage and stay there.
The answer to that is simple. Most sales people are commission driven and if they don't feel they will make enough money from you, they treat you badly. Also, sales people are usally desparate to make a sale, so they will lie, cheat and steal to make a buck. This is just a small % of sales people, most sales people are ethical, upstanding people. Not all sales people are rogues.
There is no such thing as a typical sales commission on anything. This is something that has to be determined between sales person and company hiring the sales person to make sales.
If the sales were 400 and the commission was 15 she made 415.
That's what you make & depends upon the percentage & your sales.
100% Commission
A sales clerk makes around 17,000 dollars a year. A sales clerk can earn more if they make commission on top of this salary.
That is a very open ended and very deep question. The reason I say that is because most people take a percentage of the sale and call that commission. Sales of $10,000 commission times 10% = $1000.00 commission. Nothing could be further from the truth. That is commission of gross sales..How about commission from net sales...How about a performance based commission. There are so many ways to devise a comp plan. Just make sure you know what you are actually paying in commission.
As a sales associate at sears outlet myself, I get paid $4.50 per hour, plus various different % of commission. On average, with commission + base pay, I make roughly $17-19/hr. Most sales associates, however, make closer to 11-14$ per hr.
A commission rate is a wage where you are paid a percentage of every sale that you make, not by the hour. It has advantages and disadvantages. During sales and holidays you may make more money but on slow days you may not make any money.
It depends on the company and what the pay is based off of. In both of my sales positions I have made over $50,000. The first position was my first right out of college. I wouldn't take less than $50,000 for any sales role.

The amount of commission earned by a salesman depends on his contract, and the number of sales he makes under that contract. As such, the answer to this question is case specific.
