that light indicates that you're vehicle is low on water. the big white sphere container at the top right of you're engine is the water resivoir. if the vehicle is warmed up then make sure the water level is up to the "MAX" line indicated on the resivoir tank.

Sounds like your coolant is low or your coolant level sensor could be sticking closed after the coolant was low. with the dexcool coolant it becomes thick and cause the sensor to stick closed.
For what it cost to replace the radiator and/or repair the engine, I would stick with the stealership original Anti-Freeze coolant. Better be safe than sorry...
